Ohio Lamb and Wool Queen
The Ohio Lamb and Wool Queen serves as a spokesperson for the industry throughout her year of reign at numerous promotional events and activities around the state. The queen is selected by judges at the Ohio State Fair on August 1, 2010. Contestants will attend an interview and answer an impromptu question from a panel of judges live at the conclusion of the Guys and Gals lead competition. The selection of the queen is based on personality, presentation, poise, knowledge of the Ohio Lamb and Wool industry and participation in the Guys and Gals Lead competition. We encourage all ladies between the ages of 17-21 who are involved in the industry to consider applying for this position. This is a terrific opportunity to build a wealth of knowledge of the Ohio Lamb and Wool Industry and expand communication skills and network within Ohio agriculture. Meighan Noelle Stevens, the 2009-10 Lamb & Wool Queen

Meighan Stevens

The 2009-2010 Ohio Lamb and Wool Queen is Meighan Noelle Stevens. Meighan is the 18 year old daughter of Russell and Melinda Stevens of South Webster, OH in Scioto County. She has just completed her 14th year of 4-H in both Busy Hours and South Webster Livestock clubs, as well as Jr. Fair Board, Teen leaders, and Queens committee in Scioto County. She is also involved in many state activities through State Ambassador’s, State Fashion Board, and Citizenship Washington Focus. She has exhibited Shropshire sheep for the past 10 years and also been active in Guys and Gals Leads for eight years.

As a 14 year member of 4-H she has been Scioto County Fair Queen and 3rd in the Ohio Fairs Queen Contest. She is also the 2009 Achievement Record Winner for Nutrition and will be representing Ohio in Atlanta, Georgia this November at the National 4-H Congress. She is very active in all aspects of 4-H from sewing, nutrition, sheep, beef and miscellaneous projects.

Meighan is also very involved in the Make It with Wool Program (MIWW). She has competed in all aspects of the competition, from Made for Others to Junior and Senior Divisions since the age of 12. Meighan had the opportunity to represent Ohio in Reno, Nevada and was 6th in the nation for her wool garments. Throughout the years she has had many Grand and Reserve Champion awards at the MIWW competition.

Meighan is from a small family farm in South Webster, OH. She is a 2009 graduate of South Webster High School. She is currently a freshman at Brigham Young University in Provo, UT majoring in Pre-Dentistry. She hopes to attend Dental school at The Ohio State University. In addition Meighan is very excited for the upcoming year and opportunities that this year has to offer in the Sheep Industry!
