Five Young Ohio Sheep Farmers Recipients of 2026 OSIA Scholarships

Cortney Copeland (Shelby Co.) received a $3,000 scholarship for the eleventh annual Dr. Jack Judy Memorial Scholarship. Copeland is an undergraduate student studying Agricultural Education at South Dakota State University.

Campbell Reese (Geauga Co.) received the Ralph Grimshaw Memorial Scholarship for $1,500.00.  Reese is a freshman studying Agribusiness and Applied Economics at The Ohio State University.

Ava Shroyer (Logan Co.) received the sixth annual High Family Memorial Scholarship for $1,500.  Shroyer is a Junior with a major in Animal Science and a minor in Agricultural Business at Oklahoma State University.

Annie Saling (Noble Co.) will receive a $1,500 scholarship awarded by the OSIA LEAD Council. Annie is studying Animal Science and is a Freshman at The Ohio State University – ATI.

Alexander Fitzpatrick (Senaca Co.) was named the 2026-2027 Ohio Lamb and Wool Ambassador. Alex will be studying Agricultural Education and is a Freshman at Wilmington College.  Alex will receive a $1,500 stipend at the end of his OLWA reign at the 2027 Ohio State Fair.

The Ohio Sheep Improvement Association in coordination with the Ohio Farm Bureau Foundation sponsors the Dr. Jack Judy Memorial Scholarship, Ralph H. Grimshaw Memorial Scholarship, the High Family Memorial Scholarship, the OSIA LEAD Council Scholarship and the Ohio Lamb and Wool Ambassador Scholarships.  Funds for the Judy, Grimshaw, High, OSIA LEAD Council and the Ohio Lamb and Wool Ambassador scholarships come from various funding sources including the Buckeye Shepherd’s Symposium Silent Auction and private donations.  The 2026 OSIA Scholarship recipients will be recognized during the OSIA LEAD Banquet and Awards Program on Saturday September 27, 2026, and during the Buckeye Shepherd’s Symposium Awards program. on Saturday December 5, 2026.
